Glucagonoma

The glucagonoma (also Glucagonoma ) is a hormone distributing tumor of the pancreas. The tumor secretes the metabolically active hormone glucagon, which has strong influence on the sugar balance in the body. The function is to provide in so-called " low-energy times" through various metabolic pathways of glucose (dextrose ). These include gluconeogenesis, glycogenolysis, and lipolysis Proteinolyse. In turn, various metabolically active processes are inhibited.

The tumor produces a high amount of glucagon, so that other hormones such as insulin can no longer develop the action in the body.

It may be a nekrolytischen dermatitis, diabetes mellitus, and a weight loss.

Therapy

The treatment is to surgically remove all the glucagonoma. A possible hormone replacement is necessary.
