Glucoside

Glucosides are a group of organic compounds in which an alcohol or phenol (R- OH) is bound by a glycosidic linkage of glucose. This is therefore a subset of the glycosides. Glucosides split off on hydrolysis glucose. Examples of glucosides are, for example, amygdalin and sucrose. Some industrially important sugar surfactants - about Alkylpolyglycosides - are glucosides.
