Glycerius (bishop of Milan)

Glycerius († September 15 438 in Milan ) was Archbishop of Milan and is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. He is not to be confused with the Roman emperors.

Life

Over the life of the Glycerius is virtually nothing is known. Presumably he was a teacher of the Western Roman Emperor Valentinian III during his episcopate. Prior to his time as Archbishop he was already a deacon in Milan. In the year 436 was Glycerius Archbishop of Milan. For most of his episcopate he not spent in Milan, but in Antioch.

Glycerius is today revered as a saint ( feast: September 20 ). His grave is in the church of San Nazaro in Brolo, Milan.
