Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors
The Glykoprotein-2b/3a-Hemmer (also GP-IIb/IIIa-Inhibitoren ) act by blocking the GP-IIb/IIIa-Rezeptoren on the surface of platelets. They thereby inhibiting the formation of blood clots.
They are used as platelet aggregation inhibitors - used routinely in balloon catheter interventions in the coronary arteries with and without stent implantation as well as in acute coronary syndrome - such as clopidogrel also, but instead of that substance. The outcome after administration of various GP-IIb/IIIa-Inhibitoren is the same; the main risk associated with the application are bleeding.
To the group of medications include:
- Abciximab
- Eptifibatide
- Tirofiban
