Glynn County, Georgia

The Glynn County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. Administrative office ( County Seat) is Brunswick.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Georgia, south of the Altamaha River on the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of 1516 square kilometers, of which 422 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: McIntosh County, Camden County, Brantley County and Wayne County.

On the land upstream of St. Simons Iceland a coastal fortress in the British colony of Georgia is the 1736 built in 1748 and abandoned Fort Frederica, against the Spaniards in Florida.

History

Glynn County was formed on February 5, 1777 as one of the eight original counties. It was named for John Glynn, a member of the British Parliament.
