GMB (trade union)

The GMB is one with 600,000 members of the largest unions in the UK.

The GMB was founded on 31 March 1889. In 1924 the National Union of General and Municipal Workers is from a merger of the National Amalgamated Union of Labour, National Union of General Workers and the Municipal Employees Association emerged. In 1982 it was renamed the General, Municipal, Boilermakers and Allied Trade Union.

The GMB is a member of the trade union confederations Trades Union Congress (TUC ) and the Scottish Trades Union Congress ( STUC ).

GMB general secretaries
