Gmeinder

The company Gmeinder & Co GmbH from Mosbach was a manufacturer of locomotives, gears and machinery. For this company the current " Gmeinder gear and Maschinenfabrik GmbH" as well as the resulting from the locomotive area sold to investors in 2003 " Gmeinder locomotive factory GmbH" emerged. The latter was acquired after the bankruptcy in 2012 of the Zagro rail and Construction GmbH and has since been trading as " Gmeinder locomotives GmbH".

History

The company was founded in 1913 as a stonemason & Gmeinder KG and after the departure of August Steinmetz 1919 in Anton Gmeinder jr. renamed. In 1919 the first locomotives were delivered with benzene engine and continued to work on the manufacture of machinery and workshop equipment. Under the name Badische engine locomotive works Gmeinder met with the Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft Karlsruhe and engine plants in Mannheim in the newly founded MBG engine locomotive sales company in Baden GmbH, Karlsruhe. Following the bankruptcy of the Baden - engine locomotive works in 1925 Anton Gmeinder founded together with Carl and Hermann Kälble the Gmeinder & Co. GmbH, based in Mosbach. By supporting Kälble the production of field train and standard gauge locomotives and of mining locomotives could be further expanded. 1932, the company Gmeinder the main supplier of standard shunting the Deutsche Reichsbahn was. In this period also began the production of gears and gear drives. After the death of Anton Gmeinder in 1942, Carl Kälble GmbH principal shareholder of Gmeinder & Co GmbH.

The Gmeinder & Co GmbH produced after the Second World War further shunting gear transmission. In 1976 came the merger of Gmeinder with Kälble from Backnang, the company was led from now on as " Kaelble Gmeinder GmbH". In early 1996, the new company had to file for bankruptcy due to the Libya embargo, and the Gmeinder part has been sold. The result was the " Gmeinder locomotives and Maschinenfabrik GmbH " based in Mosbach, which manufactures locomotives and gear for rail vehicles again.

End of 2003, sold the Gmeinder locomotives and Maschinenfabrik GmbH division of locomotives, in order to concentrate on the core competence of the gear assembly. Due to the sale, the company was founded in 2004 to " Gmeinder gear and Maschinenfabrik GmbH". 2008 Gmeinder founded gear and Maschinenfabrik GmbH " GGT Gmeinder transmission technology AG " (proper spelling in capital letters ), headquartered in Berlin and in 2010 the " Gmeinder Gear Service GmbH" (proper spelling in capital letters ) with headquarters in Mosbach. Founded in 2008, " Gmeinder Beteiligungs GmbH" in particular holds shares in the Gmeinder gear and Maschinenfabrik GmbH.

The sold to an investor locomotive production was 2004 " Gmeinder locomotive factory GmbH " and received the right to may continue to use the name " Gmeinder " as part of their name. Since November 2007, LBBW Venture Capital GmbH is a 100 percent shareholder of Gmeinder locomotive factory GmbH. As before, diesel locomotives are built and maintained in Mosbach from the Gmeinder locomotive factory. Then a new branch plant was put into operation on 5 March 2008 at Neckarbischofsheim North Station to be upgraded or repaired in the locomotives. Since then, the adjoining Krebsbach Valley Railway for test drives will be used.

On 23 February 2012, the " Gmeinder locomotive factory GmbH" filed for bankruptcy. Mitverursachend was that for the new Gmeinder series D 180 since 2011 with respect to a torsional extended proof of axles could not be provided by the Federal Railway Authority and thus was not the sale of the locomotive is possible. The " active assets " were railway and Construction GmbH sold on June 6 of the same year to the managing partner specializing in the construction of two-way vehicles and Rangiergeräten company Zagro from the district Grombach Bad Rappenauer. Business operations will continue as a " Gmeinder locomotives GmbH". For processing the remaining parts of the insolvent Lokomotivenfabrik a time frame is provided by 2014.
