Location of Gnadau in Barby

Gnadau is a district of the town Barby in Salzlandkreis in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

Gnadau is at the southeastern edge of Magdeburg, near the Elbe and in the middle of the city triangle Beautiful (Elbe ) - Barby - calbe (Saale ). The surroundings of Gnadau is largely flat, arable land is like the entire flange area very productive.

History

Gnadau is in contrast to the cities and towns of the region relatively young. The plant was planned village in 1767 at the farm Döben by the Moravians, one resulting from the pietism and the Czech Reformation Christian Faith Movement.

The houses and the village church are grouped around a central square square that bears the name of the founder of the Brethren: Zinzendorfplatz.

A relevant for religion and politics event was carried out on 29 June 1841 in Gnadau by Leberecht Uhlich founding of the Friends of Light movement, a theological rationalism committed fellowship.

From 22 to 24 May 1888, the Conference of the Pentecostal community movement took place in Gnadau. It was a crucial move for the community meeting, inasmuch as it emerged the Gnadauer Association, which was founded on 27 October 1897 in Berlin under the name German Evangelical Association for Community Care and Evangelism formally.

Nationally known the place was by founded by the Moravians Gnadauer educational establishments, which showed a girls boarding school. Here to 1944 pupils were taught from all over Germany. After the closure of the school, the hospital buildings were used from 1951 as a church and nursing home. As the support of the institutions Gnadauer acts the European- continental Province, a province of the worldwide Moravian Church.

On September 1, 2010 Gnadau and the district Döben were incorporated to Barby.

Gnadau called because of the numerous public parks " park community Gnadau ".

Buildings and Monuments

These are the common hall Gnadau, Built in 1780, the church of the village, with an adjacent cemetery, the brothers house Gnadau, the sister house Gnadau and the New institutional households.

In the district Döben is the village church Döben which is no longer used as a church today. Remarkably there are also several estate buildings.

Sports

The riding club organize with their annual ring riding one of the sporting highlights of the year. 1973, the local football club was founded (now SG Gnadau 73 eV).

Transport links

Gnadau is connected by highways directly with Barby, calbe (Saale ) and Beautiful (Elbe ).

The breakpoint Gnadau located since 1839 at the track Magdeburg- Halle ( Saale). There are hourly connections in each of the two largest cities of the country.

Just north of Gnadau is the airfield Beautiful Beck Zackmünde. It is used by glider pilots, parachutists and private pilots. The ICAO code for the airfield is eDoz.
