Gneven

Gneven is located in the state of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern, district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim, just a few kilometers from the state capital Schwerin located east of Lake Schwerin. Through the municipal area the Warnow flows. Gneven belongs to the Official Crivitz.

Geography and transport

Gneven lies on both sides of the river Warnow, which flows through the town in a north-south direction. To the west of the township lies the Schwerin Lake. History

Gneven is first mentioned in 1246. The area was, however, settled for some time. Like the entire surrounding area was drawn by the Thirty Years War affected also Gneven. The area belonged until 1918 to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg -Schwerin. After that the place belonged to the state of Mecklenburg and of 1952-1990 for the district of Schwerin.

The Good Gneven had by the often changing owners a very interesting story. The former is good since the 1990s, an agricultural production cooperative ( APG). The Gnevener castle was in the 16th century belonged to the families of Plessen and Kardorff, and later that of Preen, of Walberg, Peter Dorff and finally 1734 of Bassewitz. 1890 Hugo Kruse acquired the estate. Since 1925, Felix Schoeller Heribert ( 1881-1958 ) Owner of Good Gneven. He sold the estate but already 1927/1928 to the fine paper mill Felix Schoeller & Bausch in New Kaliß that his grandfather Felix Heinrich Schoeller (1821-1893) founded together with the secret of Commerce Theodor Bausch in 1872, where he was employed as Technical Manager. After 1945, the Schoeller family nor the Schoeller- farm operation in Osnabrück, where she was an entrepreneur since 1895 Felix Schoeller Group, founded by Hermann Maria Felix Schoeller ( 1855-1907 ) and is one of the largest manufacturer of specialty papers today.

The manor house has Gneven classical forms and a high roof. His half- round design it got to 1908. After 1945, the consumption, the restaurant, the church office and apartments has been housed in the manor house. In the 1990s, the building was restored and divided into apartments.
