GNU SIP Witch

GNU SIP Witch (English " witch" = " witch " ) is a free SIP server software using peer-to -peer capabilities from the GNU project. It is the GNU implementation of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), which is used for the routing of calls.

Availability

SIP Witch is distributed as free software under the terms of version 3 or later of the GNU General Public License ( GPL). It is designed for GNU / Linux, Mac OS X, BSD, and Windows and will in future also support Android. The popular Linux distributions Ubuntu and Fedora SIP Witch can be installed directly from the standard repositories.

Technology

SIP Witch is written in the programming language C and uses the libraries uCommon, eXosip and GNU oSIP.

Functionality

The software enables IP telephony as a part of a self-organizing peer-to -peer telephone network. They dominated functions such as call forwarding, call distribution, call hold and presence notification, and ( text) messages, supports encrypted connections and also provides NAT traversal for the construction of peer-to -peer connections.

History

The SIP Witch is developed under the GNU Telephony project since 10 August, 2007 by David Sugar. The first version was 0.1.0. Version 1 was released on May 14, 2011. It is used as a component of the GNU Free Call, which is to provide an alternative to Skype.
