Go-around

As a go-around (English go-around ) is called a flight maneuver in which a started landing with a landing is not completed, but is interrupted by acceleration and transition to climb.

By starting shall be ordered by the air traffic control or autonomously performed by the pilot. The most common triggers are missed approaches or the failure to recognize the runway or approach lights at the decision height DA / DH or MDA / MDH.

Another application for the go-around is the training of the approach and landing: This is started after a successful landing before (low approach) or immediately after touchdown ( Touch and Go). In this way, much more approaches and landings can be trained than if you only end up, slow down and would roll off the runway, and then start from the beginning of the runway again in less time.

Is the Touch and goes not as the touch-and -go, but instead takes the go-around after touchdown to avert a danger to aircraft and passengers, it is also called balked landing.

By starting as a flight maneuver

The go- se is not considered as an intermediate case (but possibly the reasons for the go-around, for example, vehicles on the runway ), but as a possible completion of the landing approach in addition to the successful landing. This go-around counts as flight maneuvers.

In particular, the go- shortly before or after the placement is considered by many passengers as drastically and can cause fear of flying. Modern aircraft have automated systems that facilitate the pilot, the go-around, such as autopilot.
