Gobernador Gregores

Gobernador Gregores is the capital of the department of Río Chico in Santa Cruz Province in southern Argentina. It is located at a ford of the usual wild Río Chico, protected from the cold winds in the valley of the river.

Climate

The climate is cold and dry. The average temperature in February reached 14 degrees Celsius, as they fall to 0 degrees Celsius in July. The average annual rainfall can reach about 170 millimeters. The maximum temperatures in the summer can reach 30 degrees Celsius. In winter, temperatures drop to -20 degrees Celsius in the extreme.

History

Gobernador Gregores was until the beginning of the 20th century aik or resting place of Ahonikenk. Then European settlers, who gave it the name Cañada del León or Cañadón Puma came.

The founding date of Gobernador Gregores by a provincial Act is April 1, 1871.

Tourism

Gobernador Gregores is the starting point for visiting the Perito Moreno National Park in the department of Río Chico. He can be reached via the Ruta Provincial 25. The distance is 220 km, of which 130 km are paved.
