Goblin (Band)

Goblin is an Italian band.

History

1974 founded the drummer Carlo Bordini and singer Tony Tartarini along with keyboardist Claudio Simonetti, Massimo Morante and the guitarist, the band Cherry Five, it was, however, allegedly with the producers of the famous English progressive rock group Yes, Eddie Offord in contact, the wanted to record with the four musicians under the band name Oliver an album in England. However, it was due to a prolonged stay in the USA with the band Yes as a producer no longer available, so that the members after a few performances and sporadic recording sessions again packed the suitcase and went back to Italy to there which is also titled with Cherry Five record album.

After that, the band director Dario Argento Massimo Morante and Claudio Simonetti of Cherry Five broke up again, until 1975 brought back together and the two with the drummer of Italian prog rock band Etna Agostino Marangolo, bassist Fabio Pignatelli and keyboardist Maurizio Guarini brought together, so that they should write and upload a soundtrack for his film Profondo Rosso. In return, the band gained the name Goblin. After the collaboration, it was decided not about to dissolve the band again, but the album Roller ( 1976) einzuspielen.

In the same year we also devoted himself again a soundtrack, namely to the film Perché si uccidono. However, the soundtrack is not played under the name of a goblin, but under the name Il Reale Impero Britannico. In the following years, the band continued to compose soundtracks, mostly for horror movies and played another concept album, Il Fantastico Viaggio del Bagarozzo Mark (1978 ) a.

The band broke up in 1989, though, but came together in 1998 for the theme song to the film Mind's Eye and in 2001 for the soundtrack to Dario Argento film Non ho sonno again. Then the band broke up again, because there had been disagreements during production.

In 2005 there was another reunion. The new studio album titled BackToTheGoblin 2005 and recorded by the classic line-up. On the keyboard, however, was held Claudio Simonetti 's long-standing band member Maurizio Guarini at work. After the album, the band broke up again, however, came in 2009 for a series of concerts in the same cast together again. There was again in-band disagreements, so that this reunion was not to last.

The band has become a cult together with Argento's films, and her many soundtracks as well as their two studio albums were re-released several times, so that Goblin have earned over the years a large fan base.

Date (2011), there are two configurations of the band. The two founding members Claudio Simonetti and Massimo Morante started 2010, the project " New Goblin". As a second keyboardist Maurizio Guarini is. The other half of the classic line-up, Fabio Pignatelli and Agostino Marangolo is also since 2010 under the name "Goblin Rebirth " active. Keyboardist Aidan Zammit was involved in 2005 on the last "Goblin " album.
