Godin Guitars is a Canadian guitar manufacturer, the acoustic and electric guitars has been producing since 1982 in Canada and the USA by hand.

History

Robert Godin started in 1982 in La Patrie, Quebec produce his first guitar. The headquarters of Godin is located in Montreal, but the guitars are built in six factories in four different locations. Three of them are in Quebec and one in New Hampshire.

Godin Guitars produce different guitar series. Under Norman acoustic guitars beginners and middle class are being built. The Simon & Patrick line stands for Western Guitars in higher price segment. Under La Patrie classical guitars are made. Seagull is known for acoustic guitars made ​​of solid wood of the highest quality. Godin itself stands for electric guitars in the mid to higher price segment and is also the main series. The tone wood comes exclusively from North America, mainly from the north-east. Many models have special synth pickup that work with the piezo effect and come with a built-in equalizer. Even otherwise, many of the more expensive guitars on the bridge built in piezo pickup. In addition to these technical innovations, Godin has made a name for high quality guitars among guitar players. Most guitars have a classic, but typical form that has been described as a mix between Gibson Les Paul and Fender Telecaster.

The Godin guitars have won several awards, including the Guitar Player Magazine 's Editors Pick for the LG, Exit 22, and Freeway Classic.

Several well-known guitarists play instruments by Godin, including John McLaughlin, Steve Stevens, Rumesh De Mel and Vinnie Moore. Even among session musicians, the guitars from Godin are common.

Performance Series

  • Radiator - a unique design with a pickguard that covers the whole body.
  • SD - A mix between a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson Les Paul. This model has a pickguard, a bolt-on neck and the typical Stratocaster Tonabnehmeranordnung, but Les Pauls typical humbucker at the bridge and the longer scale length.   • Solidac / XTSA - Both guitars come through the normal pickup on the classic electric guitar sound, but by the piezo pickups also the sound of a semi- acoustic. The guitars are technologically at the highest level, the XTSA has a MIDI output.
  • Freeway bass - The only bass manufactured by Godin. With active electronics and four or five strings.

Signature Series

  • LG Signature - Much like the Performance Series LG, but with flamed top and Seymour Duncan humbuckers.
  • LGXSA / LGXT - Corresponds to the LG Signature but piezo and MIDI pickups and a tremolo.
  • Montreal - semi -acoustic guitar with optional piezo-style pickups. In contrast to the other Godin's aimed primarily at rock guitarist, Montreal is more suitable for jazz and blues guitarists.
  • Multiac Jazz - A Semi-acoustic with MIDI pickup and a mini - humbucker at the bridge. The sound of the two pickups can be mixed and thus opens up new possibilities. The guitar is full of technical innovations.

Multiac and A Series

A mix between electric and acoustic guitar. The body is thinner than that of classical acoustic guitars and they have MIDI pickups. They are equipped with nylon or steel strings. Godin is the only company that offer MIDI pickups as an option.

Glissentar

The Glissentar is a unique Godin design. It has eleven nylon strings and a neck without frets. The higher five strings are twice as in a twelve -string, the lower E string is, however, individually. The Glissentar aimed at guitar players who want to bring in non-Western influences in their music.
