Goede tijden, slechte tijden ( GTST ) is the first soap opera on Dutch television. It is based as well as the German series Good Times, Bad Times on the Australian series The Restless Years.

History
GTST is ( started a year before the first commercial broadcaster in the Netherlands) since 1990 by RTL 4 and has so far sent more than 4,000 episodes. Everything revolves around the families Alberts, Bouwhuis, De Jong, Sanders, Selmhorst and Van Houten from the city Meerdijk ( outdoor shots are taken at Velsen and Heemstede ). Since 2010, the interior shots are no longer rotated in Aalsmeer, but in Amsterdam.
The soap opera has in every episode from 1.5 to 1.9 million viewers. Unlike normally common in soap operas, makes GTST each year a summer break.
