Goggausee

The Goggausee is in the range of Gurktaler Alps, north of Feldkirchen in Carinthia, in a very calm pool. Due to its sheltered location, the water is a little mixed, despite its shallow depth and after a few meters in oxygen.

The water quality is despite some low visibility as well. The small lake of elongated, rectangular shape is known in the region as cooler lake. The lake has an outlet on a bog in the Wimitzbach. The area around the lake is very sparsely populated, especially the almost deserted Wimitztal. The lake is located in the municipality Steuerberg. The next places Steuerberg and Rennweg are about 2 km away.

Among the fish species include pike, perch, carp, tench, bream and especially the catfish and perch, which thrive particularly well here. Crayfish are numerous.

The lake is located in the 100 -acre conservation area Goggausee ( Gazette No. 80/1970 ).
