Gogol Bordello
Gogol Bordello is a band from New York, which was founded in 1999. The band's sound is inspired by traditional Roma music and mixes them with punk and dub. The lyrics are written mainly in English but also in Russian and Romani. To Classic Punk Band Cast ( vocals, drums, electric guitar, bass) were added accordion and violin, are further for the live shows, a percussionist and two dancers who also contribute to percussion, part of the band.
Band History
The band was formed by Ukrainian immigrant Eugene Hütz, (Russian: Евгений Гудзь ) founded in 1999, a number of products originating in Eastern Europe and Israel musicians and an American drummer. They had previously played together at weddings.
In the American film Everything Is Illuminated by Liev Schreiber with Elijah Wood occur Gogol Bordello on. Eugene Hütz plays a starring role and his band also comes just before.
On 7 July 2007, the band accompanied Madonna in the performance of their hit La Isla Bonita as part of the Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium in London. Even before the band had made an appearance in the first film directed by Madonna rotated among Filth and Wisdom, which had its premiere at the 2008 Berlinale and to what Hütz plays the main role.
The fifth studio album by Gogol Bordello Trans-Continental Hustle was coined by Hütz ' two years' residence in Brazil by Latin influences. Served as the producer of the multiple Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin.
