Gojira (Band)

Gojira (formerly " Godzilla " ) is a French death metal band. The band was founded in 1996 in the city of Bayonne.

The name comes from the Japanese original title of the 1950s film Godzilla (JapaneseゴジラGojira ). Gojira's texts usually have the earth and the environment on the content and are shaped spiritually.

History

The band was formed in 1996 by singer and guitarist Joseph Duplantier, his brother Mario Duplantier, who plays the drums, guitarist Christian Andreu and bassist Jean-Michel Labadie. The good reviews from the international press paved the way to a contract with the U.S. label Prosthetic Records, which released their album again in 2006 in North America. In November of the same year Gojira participated in the U.S. tour of the Finnish band Children of Bodom, and thus played together with Amon Amarth and Sanctity. In spring 2007, the band played as the opening act for Lamb of God, together with Trivium, Annihilator and Sanctity. At the end of Gojira also toured with Behemoth and Job for a Cowboy.

Gojira's fourth studio album The Way of All Flesh (English for The Way of All Flesh ) was published on 10 October 2008. Guest musicians worked with the Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe. About the new album singer says Duplantier:

" This album is therefore a ' requiem ' for our planet. [ ... ] We do not want to be negative or cynical about the fate of humanity, but the situation on Earth is growing critical, and the way humans behave is so catastrophic did we really need to express our exasperation about it. It's not fear but, anger. But we still believe did consciousness can make a difference and did we can change things as human beings. "

"This album is also a requiem for our planet. We want to be neither negative nor cynical about the fate of humanity, but the situation on the ground is critical, and how people behave is so catastrophic that we need to express our frustration. It is not about fear, but anger. But we still believe that consciousness can make a difference and that we can change things as human beings. "

From autumn 2008 Gojira played together with Sonic Syndicate as the opening act for In Flames on their European and U.S. tour. In spring 2009, the first headlining tour the band's history followed.
