Gold Reef City

Gold Reef City is a theme park in Johannesburg, South Africa, was built in the 1980s in the area of ​​Crown Gold Mine, one of the largest and deepest gold mines in the world. It is located approximately eight kilometers south-west from the city center right next to the National Road 1

The idea for the amusement and theme park was originally from guides in the mine, in 1894-1982 some 1.4 million kilograms of gold were promoted, as well as workshops and other facilities. It originated with the time a theme park, which is the gold rush on the Witwatersrand at the turn of the century. The staff are, for example, dressed in costumes of the time, the building and a fair are inspired by the style of this period around 1890.
