Goldau

Goldau is a village in the political community Arth SZ, in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland.

Geography

History

The history of Goldau is strongly influenced by numerous landslides and the construction of various railways ( Gotthard Railway, South Eastern Railway, Arth -Rigi -Bahn ).

When one speaks of Goldauer landslide, it is usually that of 1806 meant, although a total of about 20 landslides are known and although was for the present landscape formation of the medieval landslide of Oberarth in the 14th century is of greater importance since the fall of larger rocks tore down than that of 1806. 1902, the second Gotthard railway line was created in 1906 electrified the Arth -Rigi -Bahn. The transfer of the Gotthard Railway Company in the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB) was completed in 1909. Population
