Geographical location

Goldbach is located approximately 4 km north-east of Aschaffenburg and about 1 km west of Hoesbach at the federal highway B 26 Lohr -Aschaffenburg, which here runs parallel to the motorway 3. The market is one of the most populous municipalities in the district of Aschaffenburg and known by the lying there enclosure of the Federal Highway 3

Your name, the municipality of the same name Goldbach, who now will flow to the Aschaff near Aschaffenburg.

History

Goldbach was first mentioned in documents in 1218, from the mid-15th century was under Goldbach the Archbishop of Mainz. 1814 Goldbach was incorporated at the urging of Bishop Joseph Ludwig Colmar in Bavaria.

At least since the 19th century Jewish families in the village were established, which built up its own synagogue. This was destroyed during the November Pogrom 1938 SA men, a reminder of which in the parking lot across from a memorial stone since 1987.

On May 26, 1995 Goldbach was awarded the designation market.

On 1 July 1971, the formerly independent municipality Unterafferbach was ( in 1812 called Niederaffholdersbach ) affiliated to Goldbach.

Culture and sights

Churches

Goldbach has two Catholic parishes. The "old church " called St. Nicholas Church is located in the old town center. Today's sandstone church in the Romanesque Revival style, was constructed to replace an older building had become too small 1894/95 and later extended by a modern extension.

To the west of the church, then development area, in 1961, the modern church of St. Mary Immaculate was inaugurated as St. Nicholas had become too small for the size of the growing community. The plain brick building with the 37 m high asymmetrical tower can accommodate about 600 visitors. In Goldbach an active sports, cultural and social life takes place. Nationwide attention is hereby annually discharged by the TV Goldbach winter running series in which it is important to cover at nine appointments every 10 km.

Industrial companies

One of the most well-known employers in Goldbach, the company Basler fashion, the women's clothing sales of around 170 million euros (as of 2007). Furthermore, the private waste disposal company Werner RC GmbH & Co is based in Goldbach. The company is largely responsible for waste management in the district of Aschaffenburg.

Traffic

Goldbach lies directly on the main highway 3 between Frankfurt (about 45 km) and Würzburg (about 75 km). Between Goldbach and Hoesbach an enclosure was built to comply with the noise limits at the six-lane expansion.

The market town of Goldbach pulls in the context of the BMVBS by the project " Urban Redevelopment West" by the center and the church environment be rehabilitated. The example of Aschaffenburg road shows this clearly. Another project is in the air, the new marketplace.

Public institutions

At the exit toward Unterafferbach there is a forest pool. The swimming pool of the elementary school is open to the public during the winter months. Throughout the municipality there are ten playgrounds, three soccer pitches and two sports halls, also a youth center in Sachsenhausen.

Curiosities

The market Goldbach is currently building at the district border to Aschaffenburg at the end of the Austrian road one insert. On the green area in the middle of this insert the establishment of a ruin -like medieval defense tower is provided. The artificial ruins commemorates the legendary castle of the lords of Kugelberg. It was on today Goldbacherstrasse municipality at the beginning of the 20th century, two high observation towers: one on the not far distant Kugelberg and one on the gray stone between Glattbach and Unterafferbach. From two towers there are still remnants of the former foundations.
