The Goldbach rises in the extreme southeast of the Natural Park hawk forest south of the Langeberg Mountains. Its source is in the district Gudensberg in agriculturally used area between the Günther Mountain to the north and the Nenkel in the southwest to about 231 m above sea level. NN. The stream is fed something below its origin from the source Buchborn which lies north near the basalt work of Günther mountain.

At the start of Goldbach flows a bit to the east, then to the federal motorway 49 to pass under at the junction Gudensberg, where it leaves the natural park. From then on he runs southward through the Gudensberger core city, where he passed the castle hill with the ruins of the upper castle east.

Below the core city of the Goldbach continues to flow south through farmland and meadows and southwest of the Mader stone by the Gudensberger district maggots. Piped he leaves the village südsüdwestwärts to then receive the water of the 1,7 km long Bach from Henkel Born and run from there for the last piece of its lower reaches by east-southeast.
