Goldebek

Goldebek (Danish: Goldbæk, Frisian: Golbäk ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein. Colony and Süderhuus lie in the municipality. Goldebek is on the outwash plain of Schleswig Vorgeest.

Geography and transport

Goldebek is located about 25 km southwest of Flensburg, 25 km northeast of Husum and 25 km south-east of Niebüll. The Federal Highway 199 from Niebüll to Flensburg, the Federal Highway 5 and the parallel railway line from Husum to Niebüll and the Federal Highway 200 from Husum to Flensburg both about 10 km away from Goldebek.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1321. The place name derives probably from the Danish words for golden barren and sandy soil and bek for Bach from.

In the municipality there is still the current mill, but the mill was demolished in 1948.

Municipal council

Of the nine seats in the municipal council voters Community ABCWG had since the local elections 2008 six seats and voters Community AcWG three. In the local elections on May 26, 2013 ABCWG received 68.1 percent. The AcWG came to 31.9 percent. The distribution of seats remained unchanged. The turnout was 74.6 percent.

Mayor

For the election period 2013-2018 Peter Jessen ( ABCWG ) was re-elected mayor.
