Golden Goose

The Golden Goose is a fairy tale (ATU 571, 513B ). It is in the Children's and Household Tales of the Brothers Grimm in place 64 (KHM 64).

Content

A man has three sons, the youngest of them is called Simpleton, who is scorned at every opportunity. The oldest son is sent by the Father into the forest to chop wood. For this he gets from the mother good cake and wine. He meets a gray male, who asks him to give it to him. He refuses and then injured at work. The injury comes about through magical powers of the gray male.

Then Exactly the same happens to the second son. Now Simpleton persuaded his father to let him cut wood. The mother gives him with this cinder-cake and sour beer. Also Simpleton meets the gray males and responded to the request to give him something. When retrieving the ash cake has turned into good cake and the sour beer in good wine. As a thank you simpleton gets shown by the gray men a special tree. As a simpleton falls these, he finds among them a golden goose. With this he stayed at an inn. The host daughters want to steal a goose feather and stick to it.

Everyone who touches the goose remains, hanging on her. And anyone who touches someone from the adhesive chain remains attached to him. Simpleton goes on with the goose and gradually a priest, a clerk and two farmers get stuck. At the sight of the princess, who could never laugh must loudly laughing. The king had passed the law: "Whoever makes my daughter laugh, they may marry ." Simpleton she demands to the bride.

But the king did not like the son- and he introduces further conditions. Simpleton to find a man who drink a wine cellar and has to eat a mountain of bread. And then Simpleton to ansegeln with a ship that can travel on land and water. The little gray man helps Simpleton to meet all of these conditions. And so the king's daughter marries Simpleton.

After the death of King Simpleton inherit the kingdom and lived a long time happily with his wife.
