Golden Leopard
With the Golden Leopard ( Italian: Pardo d' Oro ) will be awarded to the best feature film in the official competition at the Locarno Film Festival organized annually. He is thus the most important award of the festival, before the Jury Prize ( Silver Leopard ). About the Prize tunes competition jury, usually composed of international filmmakers.
The term exists since 1968, before the film was price, as the Grand Jury Prize (Gran premio della Giuria; 1966-1967 ), Golden Sail ( Vela d' oro; 1958-1965 ) and Grand Prix (Gran premio ) known. In addition to the statuette a premium in the amount of 90,000 Swiss francs ( about 80,000 euros (as of August 2011) ) is awarded in equal shares to the director and the producer of the winning film.
Award winners
The most frequently with the top prize in Locarno awarded the works of French and Italian film directors (both 11 wins), followed by their colleagues from the United States (10 ), Great Britain and the former Czechoslovakia ( 5 each ). In the years 1946-1948, 1950 and 1952-1957 not an official competition took place; a substitute jury selected the winner.

Leopard of Honour
The " Leopard of Honour " ( Pardo d' Onore ) are awarded since 1989 to film artists, usually for their life's work. The statue is that of the Golden Leopard.
