Goldene Leinwand

The Golden Screen is a film award, which is awarded for films that are commercially successful in Germany. In addition, previously a Golden Screen of Merit was awarded to people or institutions film industry 19 times.

The prize is awarded since 1964 by the e Association of German Film Theatre V. (HDF ) and the journal Filmecho / Film Week for large cinema successes German and foreign films. The Golden Screen may be awarded to full-length feature films, documentary, youth and children's films that attract at least 3 million viewers to the cinema in first 12 months, since 1972 in 18 months. The first film, which was awarded this prize, was The Treasure of Silver Lake. The award ceremony took place in Mathäser movie palace, Munich on January 22, 1964.
