Geology and morphology

The Gollach rises in the clayey layers of gypsum Keuper. In Gollachgau it cuts to the clayey- marly Lower Keuper. In Aub it begins deep cut into the hard limestones of Muschelkalk. The different rock characteristics are clearly reflected in the valley shape. In the area of Uffenheim the layer package something ( Uffenheimer saddle) bulges. Since local rocks of the Muschelkalk are broached the valley is also briefly pronounced.
