Gomashio

Gomasio, Gomashio (Japanese胡麻 塩orごま塩of goma " sesame " and shio " salt ."; Kor Kkaesogeum, 깨소금 ) or sesame salt is a spice mixture of Asian cuisine, from roasted yellow- brown ( rarely also in black ) sesame seeds and sea salt. Products that do not come from the organic trade, may also contain glutamate.

Gomasio can be easily prepared themselves. The common ratio of sesame seeds to salt is 7:1; who loves low salt, can also increase the proportion of sesame. The sesame seeds is to slightly roasted, then ground in a mortar or rolled and mixed with the sea salt. Gomasio is used to flavor salads, soups, spreads and cereal dishes or enjoyed on a sandwich. It should not be cooked with, but sprinkled over the finished dish. The sesame seeds contained in Gomasio is a significant supplier of Calcium: Two tablespoons provide as much calcium as a glass of milk. According to macrobiotic nutrition Gomasio de-acidifies the blood.
