Gombak River

The Gombak ( Sungai Gombak Malaysian ) is a small river in Malaysia.

Geography

The river flows through the Malaysian state of Selangor and has a length of 27 km. The Gombak Gunung Bunga Buah originates at on the border of Pahang and ends in Kuala Lumpur in the Sungai Kelang. It has a catchment area of 122 km ².

Naming

The Gombak was previously known as Sungai Lumpur ( muddy river). The word Kuala means mouth. According to Kuala Lumpur means as much as the mouth of the Muddy.

Ecology

The Gombak is considered the most polluted tributary of the Kelang. Between 1969 and 1990, 41% of the ancestral species in Gombak were lost.
