Gommersdorf

Gommersdorf is a commune with 361 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Porte d'Alsace.

Geography

The municipality is located in Gommersdorf Sundgau, about ten kilometers west of Altkirch. Between the village and the Largue the Rhone-Rhine canal runs. Neighboring communities of Gommersdorf are Buethwiller in the north, Hagenbach in the east, in the southeast Ballersdorf Dannemarie in the south and in the west Wolfersdorf.

History

In 1188 the settlement was called " Gumirsdof ". It was given its present name in 1581.
