Gondenbrett

Gondenbrett is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Prüm. Gondenbrett is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

It is situated in the foothills of the Mehlental Schneifel. The municipality includes the villages of Gondenbrett Niedermehlen, Obermehlen and Wascheid and a part of the settlement Walch Erath and the blockhouse Black man.

History

The first mention was made in the land register of Prüm 893 At that time, were Gunne Breth and Wassersceit around three to four miles from the present village location on the back of Schneifel. In the Middle Ages, when the inhabitants fled from the plague, both places were newly built in the valley of flour Bach.

Today's church was established on 1 January 1971 by recharge from the three previously independent municipalities Gondenbrett (then 199 inhabitants ), meals of Prüm ( 134) and Wascheid (175). Parish council

The local council in Gondenbrett consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats in the City Council are distributed among three groups of voters. In the previous election period from 2004 to 2009 the council consisted of twelve members.
