Gone Troppo is the twelfth album, or the eighth solo studio album by George Harrison after the breakup of the Beatles. It was on 5 November 1982 ( USA 8 November 1982) published. In the U.S., the album reached # 108 in the UK and in Germany it could not be placed in the charts.

Genesis

George Harrison published in the following year after his last album Somewhere in England, Gone Troppo with his commercially erfolglosestes studio album. Neither Harrison nor his record company Warner Brothers were willing to make for the album doctoral thesis, which was certainly one reason for the poor sales of the album.

The album title Gone Troppo is Australian slang and means " crazy ". As co-producer was next to Ray Cooper, who had already played the last album, Phil McDonald, a former engineer of the Beatles, this. The data of the recordings are not documented and are dated to the year 1982.

Only That's the Way It Goes, One Magical Circles and reflect philosophical views of the performers resist. The latter title is an unpublished Beatles song, which began Harrison again. The original version was recorded while preparing for the album The Beatles May 1968 at the home of George Harrison ( Kinfauns ). As on the albums Thirty Three & 1 /3 and Somewhere in England George Harrison took with I Really Love You, a cover version of the original was published by the stereos in 1961. Greece is a predominantly instrumental song that describes in text the way to Greece. The song Gone Troppo deals with the amenities of staying in the Caribbean.

Dream Away is a song of the soundtrack from the movie Time Bandits, which was produced by George Harrison's company HandMade Films. A soundtrack album was not released. The remaining tracks Wake Up My Love and Unknown Delight are love songs to God ( Krishna ). Baby Do not Run Away, however, is a love story on secular level.

Single releases

Wake Up My Love

The first single Wake Up My Love / Greece appeared in October 1982 and reached number 53 in the U.S., UK and Germany could not place in the charts themselves.

I Really Love You

The second single I Really Love You / Circles was released in February 1983, could be placed either in the U.S. or Germany in the charts. In Britain it was not published.

Dream Away

In Japan appeared as the second single from the album Dream Away / Unknown Delight.

Reissues

First published in CD format was made in June 1991 without bonus tracks. In March 2004, the album was released in a newly remastered version on CD in the EMI Group with the bonus tracks Mystical One ( Demo Version).

The album cover was designed by " Legs" Larry Smith ( Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band) and can recognize at first glance neither the artist nor the title of the album. On the inside cover of the record covers, or the foldable CD booklet describes in detail how cement is made.
