Gonni (Greek Γόννοι ( m. pl ). Gonnus Latin name, older Greek name Gonnos, alternative transcription Gonnoi ) is a Greek town of about 2,000 inhabitants and a municipality in the municipality Tempi the Thessaly region. The name traces back to the ancient city Gonni or Gonnos.

1912, the site was recognized Dereli ( gr Κοινότητα Δερελίου ) than rural municipality and renamed in 1927 in Gonni.

1997 Gonni was after Eingemeindeung two neighboring towns to the city municipality ( dimos ) collected and consisted of the following community districts, villages and settlements:

  • District Gonni - Δ.Δ.Γόννων - 2,288 inhabitants Gonni - Γόννοι - 2,190 inhabitants
  • Elea - Ελαία - 98 inhabitants

2010, this municipality was merged with the neighboring communities Ambelakia, Kato Olympos, Makrychori and Nessonas the new municipality Tempi, has since formed a township in the Gonni.

In a Kastri mentioned hillside near the contemporary Gonnoi the remains of the ancient city Gonnos or Gonni lie.
