Gonzalo de Alvarado

Gonzalo de Alvarado was a Spanish conquistador of the early 16th century. His exact survival data are not known. Gonzalo was a younger brother of Pedro de Alvarado and a very good swordsman. Both men took part in the conquest of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.

Although he was a commanding officer at Mexicafeldzug, his name was always overshadowed by the great personality Pedro de Alverados in the perception of history.

Pedro de Alvarado died on July 4, 1541 in Mixton war. Previously, he appointed his relatives, Gonzalo de Alvarado, commander of the troops in Guatemala. In 1525 the conquest of El Salvador was completed. That same year, Gonzalo de Alvarado founded the city of San Salvador.
