Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba (1585–1645)

Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, Duke of Maratra, (* December 31, 1585, † February 16, 1635 ) was a Spanish military commander in the Thirty Years' War.

Life

After the Spanish general Spinola Ambrosio had occupied the left bank of Lower Palatinate in the summer of 1620, he transferred Córdoba in the spring of 1621 the local command and returned to Brussels. Córdoba besieged in 1621 Frankenthal, the siege on 25 October but had to cancel, as Ernst von Mansfeld heranzog from the Upper Palatinate.
