Goor (Rügen)

The Goor is a seven -acre wooded area on the island of Rügen in Lauterbach, a district of Putbus, which extends over 1.5 kilometers situated on the shores of the Bay of Greifswald. The Forest of Goor consists mainly of beech and oak trees and is designated as a nature reserve.

Bathhouse

Prince Wilhelm Malte I. Putbus let 1817/1818 to build a 50-meter swimming house for his residence Putbus here. The former Friedrich- Wilhelm -Bad was, as well as some other buildings in Putbus, by Johann Gottfried Steinmeyer designed. An imposing avenue leads from Putbus two kilometers away coming on the impressive façade of the building, which is characterized by a portico with eighteen white columns. Today's bath house Goor has been rebuilt several times over the years. After the Second World War it was used as holiday home for the VEB Steel Kombinat " Hermann Matern " of the parent plant VEB metallurgical combine East ( EKO ) Eisenhüttenstadt used, but also served as FDJ holiday camp .. After an extensive renovation and reconstruction, it was in April 2007 with modern additions to a SPA extended reopened.
