GOP Varieté Essen

The GOP Variety Essen is a vaudeville theater in Essen. An offshoot of Vaudeville " Georgspalast (GOP ) " in Hannover it was opened in October 1996 in the former Essen UFA Cinema "grand movie palace ".

In the summer of 2001, the vaudeville has been redesigned. The designer Horst Bohner drew his inspiration from the New York bar-restaurant " Le Cirque ". Large chandeliers, artfully draped scarves and many British antiques provide a playful ambiance. Six figures from the triadic ballet of the Bauhaus artist Oskar Schlemmer line the side walls.

Acrobats, magicians, ventriloquists, singers, and many other performers entertain the audience with their performances. The program changes every month. There are a total of 360 people at 4, 6 and 8-seater tables into place.

Besides the headquarters in Hanover and the Essen branch there are now GOP Variety Theatre in Bad Oeynhausen, Münster, Munich and Bremen.
