Gordan Nikolitch

Gordan Nikolitch (also Gordan Nikolić, Serbian Cyrillic Гордан Николић, born 1968 ) is a Serbian violinist. He is concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Gordan Nikolitch began playing the violin at the age of seven years. He studied at the Basel Conservatory with Jean -Jacques Kantorow. He also worked with Witold Lutosławski and György Kurtág. His particular interest was the contemporary and baroque music.

He participated in various competitions as a violinist and won a prize at the Tibor Varga Competition, the Paganini Prize in Genoa, when the city of Brescia Competition and the Vaclav Huml Competition in Prague.

Since 1989, he has conducted various orchestras in France, Great Britain and Switzerland. Since 2004 he has been artistic director of the Nederlands Chamber Orchestra in Amsterdam. In 2000, he became the " Prince Consort Professor " for Strings at the Royal College of Music in London, and since 2003 he is professor at the School of Music Guildham.

He plays a violin by Giuseppe Guarneri and one of Lorenzo Storioni from 1794.
