Gordie Howe

Gordon " Gordie " Howe, OC ( born March 31, 1928 in Floral, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. The "Mr. Hockey " designated striker was one of the most important players of the North American ice hockey - in his long career in the NHL scoring Howe 801 goals, making it the second leading scorer in the history of the NHL behind Wayne Gretzky.

Career

Gordie Howe made his debut in the NHL in 1946 at the age of 18 years. He played his first game for the Detroit Red Wings and was there in the following years to the Production Line.

Gordie Howe won four Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings. After 25 years forced a wrist injury Gordie Howe with the end of the 1970/71 season to end his active career. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972.

A year later he signed a contract with the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association was founded just (WHA ), the committed his sons Marty and Mark Howe.
