Gordon E. Sawyer Award

The Gordon E. Sawyer Award is an honorary Oscar, which is awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to an individual for outstanding achievements in science and technology the film industry. The award was presented by Gordon E. Sawyer, the technical director of the sound department at the Samuel Goldwyn Studios and a member of the Committee of the Academy wissenschaftlich-/technischen ( Scientific and Technical Awards Committee ), named in 1936 to 1977. In 1981 this prize was first awarded. This prize is not necessarily every year, but only awarded after a proposal from the members of the Committee wissenschaftlich-/technischen the Academy.
