Gordon Schildfeld, 2009

Gordon Schildfeld ( born March 18, 1985 in Šibenik, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Croatian football player. He has German and Austrian ancestors.

Career

Association

Schildfeld began his youth career at HNK Šibenik. At age 16, he made ​​the leap to the first team and played his first match against NK Kamen Ingrad Velika. Then sign field was rarely used.

HNK Šibenik gave him in the 2005/06 season in the second Croatian league. There he went with the team to the first division. With his performances Schildfeld attracted the attention of the big clubs in Croatia. During the winter break of the season 2006/ 07 he moved to Dinamo Zagreb.

After only one year in Zagreb Gordon Schildfeld moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul, where he was awarded to the German second division club MSV Duisburg in the summer of 2008. In the summer of 2009, he was awarded again, this time to the Austrian Bundesliga SK Sturm Graz. After a season in Graz storm obliged the central defender for a transfer fee of around 400,000 euros and Schildfeld signed on 8 June 2010, a three-year contract. Between the clubs was agreed that at a resale shield box Beşiktaş 20 % of the transfer fee gets. At the end of the season 2010/11 the Croat with Sturm Graz Austrian football champion.

During the summer break in 2011 Schildfeld moved to Bundesliga relegated Eintracht Frankfurt. He signed a three-year contract; the transfer fee amounted to one million euros. After the rise of the second division and a convincing European Championship he left Eintracht to Russia and joined Dynamo Moscow. Already in the following January, Schildfeld agreed with his new employer on a loan until end of season for Greek first division club PAOK Salonika.

National

In 2006, he came to a use in the Croatian U-21 national team; three years later, on 14 November 2009, he made his debut in the Croatian national team, when he came off the bench in the 5-0 win over Liechtenstein in the 58th minute for Dario Srna.

At the European Championships in 2012, he completed all the games over the full distance because of the injury-related cancellation of Dejan Lovren.
