The Gorely

The Gorely (Russian Горелый ) is an active volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. The volcano is 1,829 meters high and is only separated by a valley next to the volcano Mutnovsky.

The result is the Gorely about 38,000 years ago, when at a major volcanic eruption 100 cubic kilometers of tephra were promoted. In the 13.5 x 9 km caldera 5 stratovolcanoes grew up, which merged with Gorely. Today, 11 craters in the summit area and 30 fog cone found on the flank of the volcano.

The Gorely be reached in a day trip from Petrowpawlowsk and to climb quite well. A good path overcomes the 800 meters from the parking lot to the summit.
