Gorgophone

Gorgophone (Greek Γοργοφόνη ) is a figure from Greek mythology.

She is the daughter of Andromeda and Perseus, whose victory over the Gorgon Medusa derives its name. Gorgophone Perieres marries the king of Messenia, and has with him four sons named Aphareus, Leucippus, Tyndareus and Ikarios.

After the death of Perieres she married the king of Sparta Oebalus. Pausanias, she was the first woman to be married again after the death of her husband. Tyndareus is also referred to as the son of Oebalus.

Her grave is located, according to Pausanias in Argos near a hill where the decapitated by her father Perseus Medusa's head was buried.
