Gori Municipality

The Municipality of Gori (Georgian გორის მუნიციპალიტეტი ) is a municipality ( county ) in Georgia in the region of Inner Kartli. The administrative center is the city of Gori. The area is 2327.2 km ². The municipality has 148,900 inhabitants ( 2006). For the municipality of Gori de jure includes the southern part of the internationally unrecognized Republic of South Ossetia. It is around the area of the former Rajon Tskhinvali with the city of Tskhinvali.

In the north, the municipality of Gori municipality of Djawa, in the west of the municipality Kareli, the south by the municipalities Zalka and Borjomi, bounded on the east by the municipalities Kaspi and Akhalgori.

In the municipality of Gori of major attractions. In Georgia, the Atenier Sioni Church are particularly well known in the village Ateni and Uplistsikhe.
