Górnik Łęczna

Górnik Łęczna is a native of the eastern part of Poland football club, is in the form of a stock corporation since January 1, 2007.

The traditional team colors are green and black. Play their home games in the club GKS Stadium in Łęczna from, which offers 7,200 square people. Coach of the club since the June 20, 2011 Piotr Rzepka. Previously, it was from May 2010 Mirosław Jabłoński.

History

The club was officially founded on 20 July 1979 under the name Club Górniczy Sportowy Górnik Łęczna. In the season 2002/ 03 is increased after a relegation match against Zagłębie Lubin as the third- best team in the second division to the Polish Ekstraklasa on and immediately achieved in the game year 2003/ 04 the 8th place in the table. On 1 January 2007, the football department of the men was carved out of the club and converted into a public limited company. At the end of the 2006/07 season Górnik Łęczna had relegated to the third tier as a result of involvement in a corruption scandal. However, the club managed its chances of promotion, so you played back in the second Polish league from the 2008/09 season. On 18 February 2011 the club was renamed Górniczy club Sportowy Bogdanka Łęczna SA and thus now bears the name of the main sponsor Bogdanka. In July 2011, gathered in Łęczna supporters of the club, who were dissatisfied with the renaming and no longer able to identify with the club. They founded a new club under the name GKS Gornik 1979 Łęczna so as to revive the old club name. The club currently plays in the Klasa B, the ninth- highest Polish league. On July 23, 2013, the club announced again return to old club name Górniczy club Sportowy Górnik Łęczna SA and cooperate closely with the future, founded by the fans club GKS Gornik 1979 Łęczna.

Since the 2003/ 04 season also takes part in a women's team on the schedule of the Polish Football Association. After the spin-off of the male football department, the women's team, however, continued to play under the name GKS Gornik Łęczna. With the rise in the first league in the summer of 2010, the team succeeded in doing the greatest success.
