Gornozavodsk, Perm Krai

Gornosawodsk (Russian Горнозаводск ) is a city in the Perm region (Russia) with 12,057 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the western flank of the Middle Urals about 190 km north-east of the regional capital of Perm on the watershed between Koiwa and Wischai in the river system of the Kama. Gornosawodsk is the easternmost city in the region.

Gornosawodsk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

The town lies on the railway line Permian Tschussowoi - Kushva - Yekaterinburg ( station Paschija ).

History

A settlement in the Paschija station was built in 1947 in connection with the construction of a cement plant, was awarded in 1950 under the name Nowopaschijski the status of an urban-type settlement and 1965 under the current name of a town.

Culture and sights

In Gornosawodsk there since 1967, a local history museum.

In the area there are natural beauties, such as rocks on the shore of the Chusovaya, karst caves ( Paschijskaja, length 520 meters, etc.) and the mineral reserves in Saranowskoje (in this example the relatively rare gemstone Uvarovite was first described ).

Economy

The main business is the cement plant ( Gornosawodskzement ), next to a major gravel quarry and a factory machines for forestry equipment. By Gornosawodsk runs a natural gas pipeline from Western Siberia to Europe ( pumping station ).
