Gosford

Gosford is a coastal city in the Australian state of New South Wales and is located in the catchment area of Sydney about 50 kilometers north of the city center. Gosford is the center of the Central Coast between Sydney and Newcastle and the Hunter Valley and part of the metropolitan area of ​​Sydney ( Sydney Statistical Division ).

History

Gosford was founded in the 30s of the 19th century and was declared a town in 1980. She has over 160 000 inhabitants today. Gosford is not only the commercial center of the Central Coast region, but is also centrally located for many tourist attractions, including the Brisbane Water National Park and is therefore an attraction for the inhabitants of the metropolis of Sydney.

In Gosford is also the Central Coast Stadium, the home ground of the Central Coast Mariners, Australian football first division and runner-up of 2006, 2008 and 2011, as well as the reigning champion of 2013.

Gosford is largely identical to the local administrative area of ​​Gosford City.
