Goshi Hosono

Goshi Hosono (Japanese细 野 豪 志, Goshi Hosono, born August 21, 1971 in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party ( Maehara group), Member of the Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament, and a former minister. Since 2012 he has been Secretary General of the Democratic Party.

Hosono studied at the Faculty of Law, Kyoto University and then worked for Sanwa Sogo Kenkyujo (三 和 総 合 研究所, the "general Sanwa Research Institute ", engl. Sanwa Research Institute, the think tank of the Sanwa Bank, now part of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group ).

When Shūgiin - election in 2000 was a candidate Hosono for the Democratic Party in the 7th constituency Shizuoka (after reorganization of constituencies since 2002: 5th constituency Shizuoka ), was the incumbent, the former construction minister Yoshiaki Kibe (LDP ) to defeat some 16,000 votes. The new constituency, he won five and then three times against former Defense Toshitsugu Saitō (LDP ). In the Democratic Party, he was from 2003 to 2005 Chairman of the Association of Shizuoka Prefecture, in the National Party, among others, from 2009 Deputy Secretary-General.

In 2011 he was Prime Minister Naoto Kan after a cabinet reshuffle in January first Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, in June, then Minister of State for Consumer and Food Safety ( Kan Cabinet (2nd rule) ). After the detachment Kans by Yoshihiko Noda was appointed to the Cabinet of 2 September 2011 on the Environment Minister and the newly created post of Minister of State for the organization in support of compensation for nuclear damage ( genshiryoku Songai Baisho shien Kiko ). In the third reshuffle on October 1, 2012, he lost this post. He then led the political committee of the party.

In the nationwide democratic election defeat in 2012 was 5 Hosono to defend the electoral district of Shizuoka confidently with around 59 % of the vote against Takeru Yoshikawa (LDP, 32%). The new party chairman Banri Kaieda called him in December 2012 as General Secretary in the party leadership.
