Gösta Sundqvist

Gösta Erik Sundqvist ( born May 17, 1957 in Espoo, † August 16, 2003 in Helsinki) was a Finnish musician and known as the singer of Leevi and the leavings.

The group Leevi and the Leavings existed from 1978 until the death Sundqvists in 2003. Mistakenly is often suspected in Leevi in the band name Gösta Sundqvist itself. However Leevi said to have been in an old friend of the band members.

Gösta Sundqvist wrote the songs of the group. Stylistically was often a melancholy mood and tragicomic elements in the texts. Stylistically, the music ranged from folk, pop, sometimes rock or even reggae. Leevi and the leavings are seen as representatives of the " Suomirocks " and in spite of the English band's name, all texts are exclusively in Finnish. Sundqvist and enjoyed Leevi and the Leavings and enjoy a high popularity in Finland, although the group was no live performances and also otherwise very locked against the media. Among the most popular songs are now " Teuvo, maanteiden kuningas ", " Sopivasti lihava " and " Rin Tin Tin ".

From 1990 to Sundqvist also worked for the Finnish radio station Radio Mafia. He wrote some humorous posts.

Sundqvist died in 2003 at the age of 46 of a heart attack.
