Goswin Karl Uphues

Karl Goswin Uphues ( born March 13, 1841 in Brochterbeck, † September 10, 1916 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German philosopher.

Life

Uphues studied philosophy and theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in Westphalia, 1867, he was a Roman Catholic priest. Until 1876 he worked as educators and teachers in private schools. After his solution of the Catholic Church, he taught from 1877 to 1882 at the cantonal school in Aarau ( Switzerland ). In 1881, he stepped over to the Protestant church. From 1882 to 1884 he was again a teacher at a private school in Halle an der Saale. 1884 was his habilitation in philosophy at the Martin- Luther -University Halle -Wittenberg, where he was in 1916 associate professor from 1890 until his death.
